Antalya is a city located in SW Turkey. The historical Greek name of Antalya was Attaleia after the name of the King Attalus, who founded it in the 2nd century B.C. It is formaly known as Adalia, later becoming capital of the region Anatalya along with other cities such as Aspendus, Perge, Side and Termessus. Antalya keeps much of the history of this region, as it went through many historical events which determined the modern characteristics of the city. |
